My name is Hannah and I love to cook! This is a relatively new discovery, but it turns out that in a very old school way I get a lot of fulfillment out of creating something delicious in the kitchen. This blog is a place to share those discoveries and find out how other people would change the recipe around, because there’s a huge community around food and I love to foster that in this space. Pasan is my husband and he created this space for us. He loves to cook just as much as me and he’s incredibly amazing at it. You can get inside his head a little bit more over at his blog. Our little family is made complete by our 1 year old beagle Ridley, who likes to eat whatever vegetables and (cooked) meat may find it’s way to the floor during the food prep.
Not from concentrate stems from the way we try to live our lives in general. We like to make our own rules and do life in the best way possible, even if it’s not technically by the book. We cook based on this philosophy as well - almost all of our recipes are completely from scratch and even though that sounds complicated and scary, it’s so fun and easy! Our priority is knowing what goes into our bodies, and the best way to do that is to handle each ingredient on our own. Not everyone has access to farmers markets and Whole Foods, but everyone (extenuating circumstances aside) can make their way to the produce section of their closest grocery store and stock up on foods that are not from a box and that are chock full of vitamins and minerals. That doesn’t mean we can’t have off days where we’re short on time and too tired to cook. I more than anyone love to splurge occasionally! But hopefully this site is a place to find some delicious and relatively simple homemade recipes that you’ll be happy to cook for yourself and your family. .
